“Lahaina Noon”
It’s that time of year again when the Hawaiian Islands experience the astronomical phenomenon known as “Lahaina Noon” – when the sun is directly overhead at high noon. Lahaina’s was yesterday and I happened to be at the Post Office when it happened. For just a few moments the flagpole didn’t cast a shadow and I was able to take a photo. Hawaii is the only state in the nation where this occurs, twice a year at every location in the islands.
