The “Queen’s Treasure” is West Maui’s newest high-performance sailing beach catamaran! She is 64′ long and absolutely gorgeous.

I was at the Lahaina Harbor after her long voyage from St. Croix where the catamaran was built by Gold Coast Yachts. It was a milestone for the yacht building company – their 100th boat!

The owners, Jan Nolan and Amy Sutherland, were of course onboard and invited me aboard and to go sailing on the boat. What an honor that was. Along with a full boat of relatives and friends (she holds 49 passengers plus crew), we left the Lahaina Harbor and spent another 5 hours on her!

Queen’s Treasure is solid, so smooth and fast. We were out of the harbor in no time and the view of the West Maui mountains was incredible.

Everyone on the boat was ecstatic - mahalo to Jan and Amy, Captain Brad and crew members Linda & Greg, who provided us with the best day. The food was awesome and it was fun to meet new people who all had one thing in common – the success of the Queen’s Treasure!

We anchored off Black Rock in Kaanapali so that passengers and crew could swim in the ocean. The boating community is tight and it was awesome to see other captains bring their vessels around Queen’s Treasure and congratulate the owners/crew on her arrival.

Here’s a photo of kids jumping off Black Rock!

The day ended at around 5pm when we were back at the Lahaina Harbor. Here are some more photos of the boat and West Maui for your enjoyment.

MAHALO AND CONGRATULATIONS again to Jan and Amy for an accomplishment of a lifetime. May you have incredible success with Queen’s Treasure. Lola

Many of you might remember the 100-foot, two-masted Carthaginian II, that lived at the Lahaina Harbor. The ship was carefully sunk a half-mile off of Lahaina between Puamana and Launiupoko Park on a sandy bottom in 95 feet of water in December 2005 because it lacked coral reefs and marine life in the area.

Atlantis Submarine chose this location because it lacked coral reefs and marine life in the area. The company soon incorporated the fascinating sight of the sunken Carthaginian II into its submarine tour. Guests in the 48-seat, battery-powered submarine enjoyed seeing the ship up-close in its permanent resting place, and as time passed, fish and other marine life began to make the vessel their home.

Five years later, Atlantis reported that the Carthaginian II is a thriving artificial reef with an abundance of colorful fish. The vessel’s surfaces are encrusted with plant and animal life — a garden tended by plankton-eating fish.

Only in Hawaii do we send off our loved ones this way – enjoy the video! Maui Carthaginian – Rest in Peace
